Safe Haven Sensory Builds began with our son, Santiago.

When Santiago was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), our family stepped into a world we were still trying to understand. In the beginning, we didn’t know how to help him regulate. We didn’t know why certain sounds, textures or routines could quickly feel overwhelming for him and we didn’t always know how to calm him in those moments.

But as we learned more about ASD and sensory needs, everything started to make more sense.

We began focusing on what Santiago needed most: comfort, structure, and a space that felt safe. Slowly, we created sensory-friendly setups in our home that supported his regulation — areas designed for calming, movement and decompression. And over time, we saw how powerful the right environment could be for him.

Having that sensory space at home became more than convenient — it became essential. It gave Santiago a safe place to reset, feel secure, and just be himself. It also gave our family peace of mind knowing we could meet his needs right where we are.

That’s what inspired Safe Haven Sensory Builds.

Our mission is to help other families, clinics and schools create sensory spaces that truly make a difference — spaces that support regulation, comfort, confidence and growth. Whether it’s a small calming corner or a full sensory room build, we design each space with purpose and safety at the center.

Because every child deserves a safe haven.
